… El Celler de Can Roca, according to the British magazine Restaurant. The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards – held in London’s Guildhall building – was celebrated last night. Here you have the 2015 winners.
On top of the top 10, we found El Celler de Can Roca – as expected – since the first place of the ranking in the past editions was always very disputed between Roca brothers’ restaurant and René Redzepi’s Noma.
In the past four years (except for 2013, when El Celler took the first place) Noma has always been the winner. This restaurant – ruled by the chef René Redzepi – is located in Nordatlantens Brygge (Copenhagen) and it is a two Michelin stars restaurant.
Today, Roca brothers have taken again the first place on the ranking list – they also were the winners in 2013. Spanish cuisine is now again the world leader of the gastronomy.
However, this is not the only Spanish restaurant that has entered into the list. Spanish cuisine has left its marks on the ranking of the best restaurants in the world.
We already knew the Spaniards that had been ranked below the 50th position: Diverxo 59th, Martín Berasategui 61st, and Nerua 68th. Now we are going to show you those who have got a place on the top 50 of the ranking. Tickets has got the 42nd place, tied with Borado – it was the first time ever that a tie appears in this contest.
Quique Dacosta has been the 39th of the ranking, Azurmendi the 19th, Arzak the 17th and, Asador Etxebarri, thanks to the 13rd position, has the best rise on the list – last year, it was the 34th of the ranking. Also, Albert Adrià has won 2015 best world pastry cook award.
In the top 10 we also found two Spanish restaurants – the winner of the night, El Celler de Can Roca, and Mugaritz in the 6th position of the ranking.
We cannot forget about the awards of other categories – that we already knew before – as World’s Best Female Chef 2015 for Hélène Darroze or the Lifetime Achievement Award for French chef Daniel Boulud.
Besides, this year we also already knew the winner of the best restaurant in the world, chosen by popular vote. It is the first time that this award is included in the contest – the jury is composed of all of those who want to vote for their favourite restaurant. This year, the winner has been the Alinea restaurant, ruled by the chefs Grant Achatz and Mike Bagale, in Chicago. Last year, Alinea was the 9th of the ranking and this year, unfortunately, the 26th – a significant drop in the ranking.
