The Negroni is a gin-based cocktail, generally made up of one part gin, one part sweet vermouth, and one part Campari and garnished with an orange peel. Strong and powerful but also incredibly addictive. Believe us when we say that once you try your first Negroni you will touch heaven, come back to earth and start ordering them whenever you can.
The origins of the Negroni are shrouded in mystery, but it is believed to have been first invented in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century, possibly by a Corsican Count, who it was named after. Still, the Negroni is a twist on another classic drink, the Americano, which is one part sweet vermouth, one part Campari, and one part soda water, garnished with a slice of orange. Apparently, Count Negroni was having a night out on the town and between cocktails he asked his bartender to put a little punch into his Americano with a bit of gin… suddenly, history was made.
Thank the heavens for experimentation, thank you Mr. Negroni for the discovery.
