Each bottle of Japanese whisky becomes a masterpiece because of all the culture and history that surrounds it, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. One of the distilleries that made this distilled beverage famous ceased to exist forever in 2001: Japan’s Karuizawa, a legend in this liquid universe that served a whole display of whiskies as authentic rarities.
The distillery on the southern slope of Mount Asama, an active volcano, then evaporated, and all its bottles became highly coveted collector’s items. Now, one of its exclusive whiskies is on sale for $50,000.
Whisky lovers or collectors now have the opportunity to get their hands on a 1999-2000 edition of Karuizawa. Presented in a personalised bottle adorned with 24-carat gold leaf, Karuizawa malt whisky celebrates the code of the samurai and Japan’s martial history by representing courage, honour and discipline.
This creative bottle from the limited Karuizawa Acclaim series, which was designed by artist David Stanley Hewett, is now on sale at Dekanta for $50,000.
