Both animations and video games allow us to experiment with culinary creations, which are often so tempting that we are forced to try them ‘IRL’.
Kat of Whimsy, a Kitchen League veteran, recreated Chunks‘ cuisine in Starfield, the sci-fi role-playing game that has inspired this chef to ‘de-digitize’ those creations to create 10 dishes from the game’s cube-shaped menu.
The game is set in the future, specifically in the year 2330, a time in which humanity has colonized the cosmos, and in which there are many Chunks: a popular fast food chain founded by Fred Blombart, which serves versions of cube-shaped preparations: from apples to steaks or wine that acquire that cubic appearance.
To sculpt these shapes, Whimsy ordered silicone molds from Amazon, similar to those used to make large ice cubes. She then prepared and filled each mold with its respective ingredients. In a pot of water, she boiled them.
Once cooked and ready, he let the molds cool and removed the cubes, passing the gastronomic game with a menu consisting of potato wedges, cheesecake, poached egg, grilled chicken, Mongolian beef, pumpkin pie, red cheesecake, chocolate, zero cola and cabernet rouge.
