Japanese cultural and gastronomic innovation seems to have no limits. A breakthrough that they have now glimpsed again through a new liquid format: a revolutionary soft drink that could ‘help you lose weight’.

The Japanese company Morinaga, famous for its healthy gelatin-based snacks, is behind this drink that fights hunger in a whole new way. It is a carbonated soft drink called ‘In Tansan’, designed to transform into gelatin when it reaches the stomach and leave us satiated.

It is formulated to react with stomach acids, turning into a gelatinous substance that traps carbonation bubbles, creating a solid that fills the stomach and, in theory, curbs hunger.

The drink in question comes in two flavors: the grapefruit version with zero calories, and the lemon version, with only 18, thanks to the use of sweeteners such as stevia and grapefruit. However, dieticians remain skeptical about its long-term efficacy.
