In the Plaza del Marqués de Salamanca, a new restaurant has just opened, a must for lovers of embers and good food. This is Rocacho Plaza, the second location of the emblematic Rocacho located in the Santiago Bernabéu area. This new restaurant, which has been open for just over a week, has arrived with all the essence of its ‘big brother’, but also adding a bar area for more casual meals based on tapas.
Rocacho Plaza is a large place that has two distinct areas, which are also replicated in its two terraces. On the one hand, there is the part that would be the pure Rocacho, a restaurant to enjoy good grilled meats and fish, rice dishes and a more relaxed meal accompanied by a good wine or champagne.
And, on the other hand, there is the bar area, with high tables, where you will find a menu with options for tapas, sharing or just having a few beers. The new bar menu includes more casual options such as the boletus and truffle mini-croquettes, crunchy on the outside and very creamy on the inside, or the soft-shell crab taco with avocado and kimchi emulsion, very tasty and ideal for eating with your hands.
They also have a beef burger on glass bread that comes with a tomato pesto that is delicious. And one of their most emblematic dishes: the rocacho de bacalao, a piece of fried cod in tempura, with a look that symbolizes the charcoal from the ember itself, that you have to ask for yes or yes.
Puro Rocacho
In terms of decoration, this new restaurant breathes all the essence of the original. It should be remembered that the term ‘rocacho’ refers to that untreated stone, a piece of rock totally unmanipulated by humans. To transfer this concept to this restaurant, the Cuarto Interior studio (the same one that was in charge of the restaurant on Padre Damián street) has once again taken charge of the project. In every corner you can breathe the stone, the wood, the color of the fire, the color of the wines, but all with a more modern touch.
The kitchen is visible from the dining room, so that the diner can see how they prepare the spectacular meats of El Capricho (which are also displayed in the refrigerators located in the dining room) and work with meats with different maturities. And all the tapas are also prepared here. Because if there is something that characterizes Rocacho’s recipes, it is their distinctive touch, which makes their dishes totally unique proposals.
Another important part of the restaurant should not be missed: its liquid proposal, with a very extensive wine list, including some special vintages and foreign wines, such as Italian, South African or French. Champagne also has a prominent place in Rocacho Plaza, so let’s toast to this new restaurant to which we will surely return!
