YouGov, a market research and analytics company, recently conducted a study to find out which grocery shops are Americans’ favourite. To do so, they interviewed 1,220 people in the US from October to December 2024. And, after breaking down all the responses, the winner was 7-Eleven.
The Japanese convenience chain scored 97% on the ‘fame’ scale. It also received a 65% popularity rating in the supermarket category, meaning ‘people who have a positive opinion on an issue’. Only 8% of respondents ‘disliked’ it, while 24% remained neutral.
The more traditional Trader Joe’s came in second place with 94% fame and 64% popularity, with only 5% of respondents rejecting it. In fact, 7-Eleven’s popularity rating is currently trending downward, while TJ’s is trending upward, meaning it could soon take the top spot on ‘The most popular grocery stores (Q4 2024)’ list (which you can view in full via this link).
In third place is Whole Foods, which has a higher fame rating of 95%. However, it has a lower popularity rating of 64% and a ‘dislike’ rating of 8%. In fourth place is Aldi, with 90% awareness and 60% popularity, and Kroger, which completes the top five, with 93% awareness and 63% popularity.
