In summer the Balearic Islands becomes a must to enjoy the best beaches and a gastronomy to match. Among the latest openings that have taken place in recent months, highlights the new gastronomic proposal of chef Eugeni de Diego, who worked at elBulli as head chef from 2005 to 2011 and was also part of elBullifoundation. The restaurant is called Pintarroja, is located in a village in Menorca, and the concept is based on a casual seafood restaurant where the quality, seasonal and local product is the real protagonist.
On the menu, of course, there is a lot of seafood, such as anchovies, cod esqueixada, fried baby squid, prawns, scallops, sardines or crayfish. It is characterized by a grilled and steamed cuisine, without any frills, with the genuine touch of Eugeni de Diego. Other dishes such as the grilled sobrasada with honey, the Mahón cheese plate, the white asparagus with orange and nuts or the burrata salad with eggplant are also worth mentioning. And all accompanied with a great selection of wines and drinks, such as La Pomada, very typical of Menorca.
A casual and very Menorcan seafood restaurant
In addition, Pintarroja’s concept in Menorca also opts for proximity, working with local fishermen and producers with the aim of preserving and highlighting the essence of the island in every bite.
In short, Pintarroja is going to become the ideal place where to live a summer in Menorca. As an anecdote, the restaurant is located in Es Castell, which is the first village in Spain to see the sun rise. So if you don’t want to miss an informal, relaxed and hippie chic proposal, take note:
