Next Sunday, February 11, the Super Bowl final will be held, the authentic sporting event in the United States and one of the most followed in the world. Last year an average of 114.4 million viewers watched it. One of the highlights is always the musical performance during the intermission, which this year will be given by the singer Usher. But another highlight of the Super Bowl is the food. Over the past few weeks, food and beverage brands have been pulling out all the stops to launch campaigns that will attract consumers to celebrate the Super Bowl as the gastronomic feast it deserves to be.
Beers and snacks are multiplying by millions, whether at home or at any bar. The consulting firm Numerator predicts that more than 80% will enjoy the Super Bowl at home, of which 50% will pair the show with soft drinks, while 37% will also do so with beer and 22% will opt for wine, champagne and other alcoholic beverages. To get an idea of the magnitude of these figures, a study by Advantage Solutions estimates that on that Sunday alone more than 1230 million beers are consumed in the United States, which translates into more than 10,000 euros in sales.
A fast food feast
With respect to food, the figure is not too low either. According to The Produce News last year, approximately 36 thousand tons of avocados were shipped for the Super Bowl to prepare the traditional avocado. Fast food is the star choice to enjoy the game. More than 48 million Americans order this type of food at home. Sixty percent of these orders are for pizzas, around 12.5 million pizzas.
Something similar happens with hot dogs or chicken wings, specifically 1.3 billion, according to the National Chicken Council. Other highly demanded options will be cheese, whose sales will exceed 4 million dollars, pretzels or potato chips, of which more than 14 thousand tons of chips will be consumed. And you, what food will you order while enjoying the Super Bowl 2024?
