Within the promotional framework of the third season of the audiovisual trend, the cast of ‘The Bear‘ offered a virtual press conference to which media such as EatingWell had the opportunity to connect. In it, the cast shared items such as sneak peeks of the new season, as well as their favorite Chicago restaurants.

Chicagoans or visiting tourists can now have at hand the definitive guide to the recommended local landmarks of this constellation of stars, whether they have already digested the new episodes or not.

Birrieria Zaragoza

The Mexican institution known as Birrieria Zaragoza has locations in Uptown and Archer Heights, and specializes in just one product: stewed and tender cabrito, accompanied by chopped onion, cilantro and homemade salsa. The cast has been to the restaurant many times, and Matheson (Neil Fak) has recently recommended it.

Duck Duck Goat

The entire cast simultaneously agreed that Duck Duck Goat was a standout restaurant on the Chicago dining scene. It is a Chinese restaurant that translates classic flavors into a modern setting through elaborations such as its homemade dumplings, wontons or noodles and more that are very worthwhile, according to the cast.

Viaggio

The cast of ‘The Bear‘ made it clear: ‘We all ate very well at Viaggio in West Loop,’ said Staffieri, Theodore Fak on the show, as the cast erupted in applause. ‘Viaggio is great,’ said White, while Matheson finished it off by corroborating ‘We love Viaggio.’

At this Italian-American fusion restaurant, located at 1027 W Madison Street, you can sample an extensive menu of regional Italian pastas, meats and fish complemented by a selection of salads, soups and desserts. Popular staples include Rigatoni with braised pork sauce and Eggplant Parmesan, served alongside Executive Chef Nicolas Biscaglio’s interpretations of classic Italian dishes.

Ponce

‘I haven’t gone to a lot of fancy restaurants. I’m kind of a hermit,’ says Colón-Zayas, who plays Tina Marrero. ‘But I like Puerto Rican food. My favorite was this restaurant, Ponce.’ Ponce Restaurant is a family-run establishment that proudly serves traditional Puerto Rican cuisine.

Gene & Jude’s

‘I love to have a hot dog at Gene & Jude’s,’ Matheson recalls. A must stop for Matheson, Gene & Jude’s where to try one of Chicago’s most famous hot dogs at 2720 N River Road.

Margie’s Candies

White noted that there was one ice cream place the cast once went to that was worth mentioning, and Staffieri revealed the name. ‘We went to Margie’s Candies, in Uptown, it was really good,’ he said. The cast’s favorite dessert is thus served at Margie’s Candies, which in addition to boasting an endless display of deliciousness, maintains the classic look of a retro candy store.
