One more year, Tapas Magazine will gather the most outstanding gastronomic personalities in the second edition of the T de Oro Awards, which will be held this Monday, November 6th. A gastronomic event where the most important restaurants of 2023 will be announced. For such a special occasion, Tapas has prepared a day full of gastronomy, in which wine will have a great prominence throughout the event, thanks to Viña Pomal, official sponsor of the event. The prestigious winery that, after almost 120 years of history, has been able to combine tradition and innovation to adapt its image and product to modern times, without having to give up the value of the classic and original.
To reflect this, the winery has prepared wine pairings during the cocktail reception based on Viña Pomal Crianza 2020 and Viña Pomal Reserva 2016, for guests to enjoy at the cocktail party. While for dinner, Viña Pomal Selección 106 2018 and Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 2015 will be served.
Viña Pomal Crianza 2020
Viña Pomal Crianza 2020 is the most awarded Rioja Crianza in its segment. In view, it has a cherry red color with purplish glints. On the nose, it has a high aromatic intensity, with aromas of violets, black fruits and licorice with hints of vanilla and roasted coffee. The palate is smooth, balanced and fresh. With good structure and soft tannins.
As detailed by Mayte Calvo de la Banda, Winemaker of Bodegas Bilbaínas, Viña Pomal Crianza harmonizes perfectly with mild dishes such as rice, cheese, pâtés, stews, vegetables or fish, in addition to the typical dishes that traditionally pair with crianza red wines.
Viña Pomal Reserva 2016
This wine has a perfect balance between floral aromas, red fruits and toasted ageing notes, making it one of those Rioja classics that never fails: whether with rice, red meat, game or even vegetables.
In view, it has a deep cherry appearance, with a ruby rim of marked intensity. The nose is intense and elegant, with floral notes and red fruits that are nuanced with sweet spices (vanilla) and roasted. On the palate it is persistent, with the balance of the great Riojas.
Viña Pomal Selección 106 2018
This special edition is the result of a selection of Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha made by our winemakers at Bodegas Bilbaínas. The label design has recovered the same blue color of Bilbao, the city that gives its name to Bodegas Bilbaínas. It has a cherry color with a medium-high intensity garnet rim. The nose has spicy notes of licorice and black fruits, violet flowers and fennel. Mineral background with notes of chocolates and fine woods (cedar). On the palate it is a structured and tasty wine, with great persistence and balance. Well structured, elegant and long.
According to Mayte Calvo de la Banda, this wine is the perfect complement to stews, grilled meats and cured cheeses. It can also be enjoyed in dishes containing vegetables, rice, duck and blue fish.
Viña Pomal Gran Reserva 2015
This serious red represents the classic grand reserve of Rioja, faithful to its origins for more than a century. It has a garnet color and cherry tones, with a bright appearance, with slight tile-colored reflections on the edges of the glass. It has a complex and elegant nose with notes of licorice and red fruits typical of Tempranillo, along with spicy hints subtly added by the Graciano variety, as well as roasted and balsamic aromas (vanilla, pepper, tobacco) typical of the barrel. On the palate, it is a reflection of our environment, with a smooth entry and a sensation of elegance and balance, ending with a long persistence. It is the perfect complement to dishes containing vegetables or legume stews. Also suitable for meat or vegetable rice dishes, moderately strong cheeses, duck and blue fish.
