The chocolate experience inspired by Wonka’s chocolaty eccentricities, invited on its website to ‘immerse yourself in a chocolate fantasy like never before’, and be enchanted by all the charm of the film in real life.
An advertisement on its portal with images generated by artificial intelligence with which visitors expected to taste chocolate treats, witness performances by Oompa Loompas and observe ‘optical wonders’. All this would end up being diluted in a decadent reality that had nothing to do with what was advertised.
Instead of all that, on February 24 and 25, the families who attended the ‘interactive experience’ only received a couple of jelly beans, a brief walk through a practically empty warehouse, and the subsequent visit of police officers that marked the outcome of the plot.
This event of the House of Illuminati in Glasgow (Scotland) in the Box Hub space, thus triggered a sordid episode staged in the middle of a space with only a few chairs, tables and a half-inflated bouncy castle, which visitors walked through with faces of astonishment and disappointment, decoding the whole scam in situ.
The Willy Wonka nightmare thus brought children to tears and led families to call the police, who had to intervene to put an end to the fraud. The organizers were thus forced to cancel ‘the show’ in mid-Saturday after complaints from parents, who, of course, requested a refund.
