The Lingshi Henmang chain store in Changsha (China) is making an XXL impact both in real life and on the Internet for its revolutionary concept, which is a local and tourist attraction. The reason? Its more than 120 snacks in a giant version.
From their ramen to their Oreos to Lay’s potato chips they are driving countless people to head to the store, and load up on large quantities of products. The question here is: are snack foods really that big? Their oreo cookies, for example, contain 14 smaller packages inside; while other items like their spicy chuches are big enough to use as a blanket.
Lingshi Henmang wants to become the ‘people’s snack store’ and, to achieve this, it offers all those snacks at lower prices than regular stores, encouraging competitive bulk buying.
According to Xie Hai of the company’s public relations team, even with the rise of online shopping in China, they want to encourage the physical customer experience. ‘When customers see well-arranged snacks that awaken sweet childhood memories, they can’t resist buying, and shopping becomes a happy experience.’
The brand opened its first store in Changsha in January, and due to its colossal demand, they opened another in March, leading to customers waiting up to three hours in line to enter, and another hour to exit.
