The Asturian chef has talked in his blog Longer tables about the Greek Horiatiki Salad, a Greek salad that is perfect for this fall as a first course or as an accompaniment to any meal. In fact, José Andrés proposes it as a must for Thanksgiving dinner, with a glass of Albariño. We explain all the ingredients of the Greek salad Horiatiki, take note!
Horiatiki Greek Salad Recipe
Ingredients:
- 3 tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 1 cucumber
- 1 green bell pepper
- Lamb’s lettuce, arugula or spinach
- A handful of olives
- 200 g feta cheese
- 1 pomegranate
- Red wine vinegar
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and oregano
Preparation:
- The preparation of this salad is very simple. The important thing here is to have first quality ingredients.
- First start with the vegetables. Wash and cut the tomatoes into wedges, the onion into thin rings and the cucumber into slices. Place everything in a large bowl, including the olives (black or green, whichever you prefer), the pomegranate and the greens of your choice.
- Season to taste with olive oil, vinegar and salt and toss well to combine.
- This Horiatiki salad is always served with feta cheese on top, a drizzle of olive oil and dried oregano.
