Critics and devotees of the series continue to praise Christopher Storer‘s work. The second season of the mass cultural phenomenon has just reached the height of its popularity with a total of 23 nominations for the 2024 Emmy Awards. ‘The Bear’ now holds the record for the most nominations for a second season of a comedy; having been nominated in this category this year as well, competing with the likes of ‘Abbott Elementary’ and ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’.

The most awarded episode of the second season was ‘Fishes‘, fuelled by an infallible formula: surprise cameos and a high voltage level of drama and tension. In the episode, Carmy returns home from Copenhagen to spend Christmas with her family and friends, and things quickly fall apart as simmering conflicts between family members erupt.

It has received nominations for guest stars Jon Bernthal, Bob Odenkirk and Jamie Lee Curtis, and for Storer as director.

As for the cast of the series itself, Jeremy Allen White was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Ayo Edebiri is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series; while Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who plays Cousin Richie, is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Liza Colón-Zayas, playing chef Tina, was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Finally, the series has received other nominations in technical categories such as sound and editing.
