The Eras Tour star mistakenly set a fire in the kitchen of her luxury Tribeca flat, and her friend and collaborator Gracie Abrams was there to capture the whole experience.
Abrams then decided to post the video online. In it, Taylor is shown putting out the fire caused by a fallen candle that sparked a ‘dramatic episode’ as they worked on Gracie’s new album, ‘The Secret of Us’. What do I do about it? I think we’re going to die,’ Swift joked as she tried to put out the flames. ‘Our bags are ruined, and our shoes, and the whole room I think.’
‘Writing this whole song from 2am to 6am was some of the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,’ Abrams wrote in an Instagram post. @taylorswift we now know how to use a fire extinguisher. I love you guys.’
Although they eventually managed to extinguish the flames, Brams shared with Billboard the effects they experienced: ‘I don’t know how at that hour or in our state she knew what to do. We both had crazy coughs from the fire extinguisher fumes for weeks’.
Of course, since it was Taylor Swift, the social networks also echoed all of this, with countless comments and memes. Abrams’ co-producer Aaron Dessner also wanted to contribute to the same thread. I’m so excited to share that @gracieabrams’ second album, The Secret of Us, is out today. I couldn’t be more proud of Gracie and this album and all the friends who have contributed to it.’ ‘They almost burned down Taylor’s flat writing this song and we had an incredibly fun day and night recording it at Long Pond.’
