Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley‘s wedding on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, became the epitome of American stardom and artistic elite. But a day earlier, on Friday night, a scene of chaos ensued when hundreds of Swifties surrounded Taylor Swift as she left the restaurant where she shared a table with the likes of Cara Delevigne, Zoë Kravitz, Channing Tatum and others for Antonoff’s pre-wedding rehearsal dinner.
Word spread that Swift was present at the dinner, prompting a whirlwind of fans who waited outside the restaurant to catch a glimpse of the pop icon. Controversial behavior that was soon criticized by countless TikTok content creators. Some even said Swift looked scared as she was escorted to a car waiting for her by security.
Beyond that episode, frustration was also experienced locally. For LBI locals were fuming over the fanfare surrounding Antonoff and Qualley’s wedding, with bars and restaurants packed during their stay, while others closed completely for the wedding. The ceremony and reception took place at Parker’s Garage and Bird and Betty’s in the Beach Haven area.
Part of the frustration was due to the fact that LBI’s annual fishing competition, which took place the same weekend, was disrupted by wedding-related crowds and police presence.
