From Tapas we compile the best plans with which to enjoy the weekend in Madrid, and relegate ourselves to hedonism between cultural and gastronomic experiences, parties, events and museums. Take the agenda and take note of our weekly proposal.

FRIDAY 18

On Friday we will attend the culinary activation at MORFO gallery, co-directed by @asesinasuarez & @lisandroilla. Starting at 8pm, gastronomic artist Lisandro Illa, who has worked in haute cuisine restaurants such as noma, will showcase his talent alongside that of Argentine Santiago Paredes.

This culinary art-inspired dinner-installation will display an avant-garde feast consisting of a mushroom baos with fresh & fruity chimi, and a carrot-flavored crumb bread sandwich filled with potato ham, figs, and fermented grapes. The work will be elevated by a still life of sweet and sour fruits and geometric bread vases designed by Santiago Paredes, as well as a colossal crunchy dulce de leche tart with dates and cream cheese. To reserve your ticket to this sensory experience, you can do so through this link.

After the experimental dinner in the gallery, we will continue to feed on art, but this time in a musical key. Specifically, of nightly electronic ‘SNACKS’ of the new party that was born in a small room of Pacha Ibiza three years ago, and now brings together the most reputable DJS of the scene. On this occasion, the line-up will be made up of Pascal Moscheni and Pional, as residents of ‘hell’; while in paradise will rise Ears on Earth. Get your pass here.

SATURDAY 19

On Saturday morning we will visit another of our favorite galleries in the capital: La Causa Galería, which hosts Billy Gibney’s new exhibition entitled “Thank You for Your Consideration”. The contemporary artist, based in Melbourne, exhibits a series of oil paintings that immortalize his characteristic cinematic spirit; as if they were distorted stills from his own life.

In all of them, Gibney’s luminous, shimmering and metallic finishes dazzle, with which he has just emphasized his works charged with intense feelings such as nostalgia, fear or excitement.

‘Drawing on cinema’s unique ability to explore human nature, Billy Gibney depicts an implausible reality that focuses on tension, gesture and movement. The images in “Thank You for Your Consideration”, drawn from his own memories or thoughts, reveal a theatrical approach to depicting the world that is both familiar and believable, despite the exaggeration of gestures and exacerbated emotion reflected in each piece.’

At nightfall, the ‘Jackies & Honey Dijon pres: House Nation Madrid’ party will take to the IFEMA stage to make us dance until dawn with high-voltage sets from internationally renowned DJS like Honey Dijon, who has eclipsed the club and fashion circuit in London, Paris, Berlin and New York. The eclectic mixes of Chloe Caillet, Eliza Rose and Piem will also resonate there. If you want to save yourself the FOMO, secure your ticket here.

SUNDAY 20

We will close the weekend at the new design restaurant Ultramarines del Coso. This emerging space located in Chamberí fuses tradition with contemporaneity in a neo-tavern of “cañí” inspiration in which its chef Dani Álvarez reinterprets classic dishes through the culinary avant-garde.

Among its outstanding dishes are shrimps from Motril, red tuna nigiri from Balfegó, anchovies 00 on smoked brioche, cockles with Josper, oyster spéciale no3 with nam jim sauce or callos madrileños.
