From Tapas we have compiled the best plans with which to make the most of the weekend in Madrid, and to indulge in hedonism between cultural and gastronomic experiences, festivals, events and museums. Grab your diary and take note of our weekly proposal.
FRIDAY 24TH
We’ll start the weekend in a culinary key by trying the first vegan ‘cocido’ on the hotel scene, offered by the Barceló Imagine Hotel. A space where art, music and architecture converge, serving one of the most outstanding and innovative interpretations of this traditional dish.
Available every Friday, this three-course vegan menu is one of the great veggie alternatives to the Madrid classic, which starts with a few pickles and a vegan stew croquette.
After the appetizers, the first course is a vegan ‘sopamen’ with buckwheat noodles, which evokes a kind of Japanese ramen, followed by a second vegetable dish: faiko turnip, pumpkin, carrot, potato and pak choi sautéed with garlic oil and paprika.
The whole feast is topped off with a delicious protein still life: milky chickpeas, pumpkin black pudding, textured soya vegetable chorizo and grandma’s fritters, along with a vegan chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream to round off the experience.
As the moon rises, we’ll reactivate the castizo mode on another stage: at Casa Pepa‘s party. In Sala El Sol we’ll dance until dawn with sets by resident DJs @lavidadejaime and @djpopi_, as well as the debut of @_luciareina, fusing electronic and urban sounds in the same ritual inhabited by the capital’s artistic and creative communities. If you don’t have your pass yet, get it here.
SATURDAY 25TH
Saturday morning will be dedicated to fashion. We will visit the collaborative pop up of the brands Errres and Espíritu club, which will exhibit a collection of new vintage and upcycling pieces connected by sustainable love. Where? In Calle Cabestreros 8, located in the Lavapiés neighbourhood.
From there we will head to the new restaurant El Pañuelo, which presents itself as a sophisticated ode to Basque-Navarran cuisine. An emerging project with a classic and romantic spirit, run by sisters Arantxa and Marta Martinez, which travels from the Pyrenees to Madrid with a menu that combines roots and tradition with an avant-garde twist in outstanding dishes such as eggs with eels, sirloin steak with foie gras, Donostian-style sea bass and foie gras carpaccio.
In the afternoon, Bon Calso will shake up the capital’s stage at Sala Paqui (formerly Sala But), where the artist will open his ‘Outta Control Tour‘ with an album that moves through an infinite number of emotions and sounds in 13 different tracks featuring featurings by Mda, WE$ST DUBAI and Clutchill.
SUNDAY 26TH
On Sunday we’ll delve into the temple of Asian fusion cuisine at Umiko. A creative restaurant made up of gastronomic and artistic works, known for its elevated sushi, noodles and Japanese-style grilled meats with international influences.
At Umiko, its chefs Juan Alcaide and Pablo Álvaro Marcos present a proposal based on the avant-garde in essential dishes such as their nigiris, like the paella nigiri based on Japanese hokoshikari rice and paella socarrat, or their prawn Ramen with sesame sauce and avocado. Where? Calle Madrazo, 6.
In the evening, we will attend the showcase of the queen of drill Bb trickz, who will make her debut in the capital with a party where she will present her new EP full of surprises.
On stage at The Bassement she will unveil her new work, which will continue to serve up the attitude, charisma and hypnotic lyrics on drill bases that have captivated Rosalía, Karol G and Veeze. Get a ticket here through the raffle he has organised together with Highxtar.
