From Tapas we compile the best plans with which to enjoy the weekend in Madrid, and relegate ourselves to hedonism between cultural and gastronomic experiences, parties, events and museums. Take the agenda and take note of our weekly proposal.

FRIDAY 8

After an atypical week, in the midst of post-holiday depression and storms, it’s time to enjoy the weekend and disconnect with different plans. To whet your appetite, our Friday recommendation is the play La Tuerta. Recently premiered at the Fernán Gomez theater, this is the debut of actor Jorge Usón. La Tuerta pays tribute to the theater itself and to the power of forgiveness as a revolutionary and transforming element. It stars María Jáimez and promises to become one of this month’s must-see plays. They have performances from Tuesday to Sunday at 8:30 pm, until September 24. You can get your tickets here.

And just 200 meters from the theater, you have the ideal place for a Friday dinner. The Zuma Madrid restaurant has become one of the Japanese reference, thanks to its haute cuisine but inspired by the traditional Japanese izakaya style of informal dining and the adaptation of traditional flavors in their current dishes.

You have three dining concepts at your disposal: the main, the sushi bar and the robata grill; plus the Taste of Zuma tasting menu, which costs 75 € and includes options such as crispy fried squid, green chili and lime calamari with green chili and lime, sliced tuna with daikon chili and ponzu sauce tuna tataki, daikon, chili and ponzu, or salmon with teriyaki sauce, pickled cucumber slices salmon with teriyaki sauce, among others.

Where? At Paseo de la Castellana, 2.

SATURDAY 9

For this Saturday we propose you to visit ‘Metamorphosis’, the first solo exhibition in Spain organized by artist Elena Gual together with Arma Gallery. The artist, who is known for challenging cultural canons that limit the freedom of the female body, will present her latest creations, including her outstanding series “People of Madrid” in which she captures the essence of volunteers portrayed in Madrid’s iconic Retiro Park. The exhibition will take place from September 7 to 14 at Calle Jovellanos 7, Madrid.

After the exhibition, a great option is to treat yourself to the excellent burgers of The Fitzgerald, which has just released a new proposal to make the return to routine much more bearable. Until September 30 you have the opportunity to try their new recipe: a beef burger with blue cheese sauce, crunchy onion, cheddar sauce, goat cheese, tomato and bacon (10,80€).

In addition, if you resist the end of summer and you are one of those who enjoy milkshakes at any time, they have also launched a limited edition milkshake that looks great. It has an ice cream base with a touch of vanilla, milk, cream, white chocolate and dulce de leche syrup, and costs 3,90 €.

Where? In any of the stores they have in Madrid, but also in the Valencian Community and in Albacete.

SUNDAY 10

To end the weekend in style, we propose a literally high activity. The Arkose climbing wall has organized this weekend (9 and 10) its open days. The entrance to climb and the climbing shoes will be free. So if you want to try climbing, you have a chance to get into one of the trendy sports. You can still register here to get your fast pass.

Where? At Calle de Leñeros, 4, 28039 Madrid

After giving everything climbing, it’s time to regain strength. We can think of no better option than to visit the Ginza restaurant, which has an innovative format of a la carte buffet of haute cuisine, which includes more than 30 dishes from the menu that you can try from start to finish without limit of repetition, served at the table and prepared at the time. And all for a highly recommended price.

The proposal is the responsibility of Víctor Camargo, the executive chef of Salmón Guru or Viva Madrid, among other restaurants, and combines Asian tradition with an original Spanish touch. According to the words of the chef himself, this haute cuisine initiative “is designed so that diners can really enjoy it at their own pace, in fact, the freedom to choose from the entire menu allows diners to dare to try exotic dishes that they would not order for fear of making a mistake, and thus make their experience truly novel and stimulating”.

For 31,95 €, you will have the opportunity to try delicacies such as Iberian bacon bao, fried Gyoza with sobrasada and manchego cheese, prawns with sweet ginger soy sauce or French toast infused in rose milk and ginger honey, among others. Take note!

Where? At calle Velázquez 45, 28001, Madrid.
