Here at Tapas we’ve compiled the best plans to make the most of the weekend in Barcelona and indulge in hedonism between cultural and gastronomic experiences, festivals, events and museums. Grab your diary and take note of our weekly proposal.

FRIDAY 24TH

For today’s evening we have improvised a cult plan, based on the screening of ‘Soundtrack to a Coup d’État’, by Belgian filmmaker Johan Grimonprez. At Casa Montjuïc at 8 p.m. this film is a dazzling journey full of ideas that intertwines American jazz with the geopolitical intrigues of the 1950s and 1960s.

‘It is almost reductive to describe this extraordinary film essay as a music documentary, as it deals with so much more: the Cold War; the bloody traces of colonialism in Africa; the 1961 assassination of Patrice Lumumba, prime minister of the newly independent Democratic Republic of Congo; the shoe of Nikita Khrushchev, Stalin’s successor’. SATURDAY 25TH

Saturday’s aperitif and lunch will take place at one of the city’s favourite wine bars: MASA. A discreet and simple bar perfect for a get-together where wine flows freely alongside local seasonal dishes with a creative twist. There we will share some of their most appetising proposals such as their pumpkin gnocchi with garlic emulsion and lemon butter, crispy kale and parmesan; the grilled halloumi with beetroot, pickled dates, pistachio dukkah and herbs, to end the evening with a Basque goat’s cheese tart with figs in syrup.

Of course, we will stimulate the feast with wines like the ‘Free Bobby’, their summer 2023 iteration made with Carlos Rodriguez. A wine they describe as ‘semi carbonated with only 7 days maceration, fruity notes of strawberries and raspberries and only 11% alcohol’.

On Saturday we can’t miss NITSA CLUB’s ‘Âme Live / Optimo (Space)’ party at Sala Apolo. A continuous session over 4 hours, in which the duo Âme will play their best tracks of Chicago and Detroit house; including ‘Rej’, a minimalist techno impregnated with the flourishes of a house melody. Get your ticket here, before they sell out.

SUNDAY 26TH

On Sunday we will delight ourselves with Indian food at Mayura: a mythical restaurant in BCN that pays tribute to its culture both through its aesthetics and its sophisticated gastronomic proposal where you can find the best Indian dishes in the city. Among the house specialities are tandoori chicken and spicy curries.

After lunch, we will spend the afternoon at MACBA, enjoying the new exhibitions it is hosting such as ‘Epílogo: contrapanorama’, an extended exercise that literally interprets the title of the project to question both the relevance of the triennial format and its capacity to offer a panoramic image of the now.
