The ‘Conclave’ star is not only enjoying success in film, but also in the gastronomic world with his cookbooks and online recipes, as well as presenting the TV show ‘Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy’, a gastronomic tour of Italy.
This time, Stanley Tucci wanted to experiment with a simple dish, but with a gourmet twist: an Italian sandwich made with a ‘panino’ -or, as he calls it, a ‘toastie’, the British term for a pressed and toasted sandwich- with a few select ingredients.
The actor makes this sandwich with sliced bread spread with olive oil. He then fills it with prosciutto, tomato slices, mozzarella – which must be fresh – and whole fresh basil leaves, topped with a light pinch of salt.
Once the sandwich is assembled, Tucci heats a frying pan on the stove to add a drizzle of olive oil and places the sandwich on it to toast. As the sandwich browns and melts, the London actor adds a dab of butter to the pan and on top of the bread. That’s it.
