Rosalía, overshadowed by the otaku universe and Japanese iconography, has starred in countless culinary episodes linked to the country of the rising sun. A latent and deep feeling that we could see reflected again recently in a master class with chef Bayashi, in which the artist learned the recipe for the most colossal salmon sashimi in the world to the rhythm of Bizcochito.
Beyond that scene that drifted into the ocean of the viral, the interpreter of Saoko returned to disrupt the Internet with a TikTok video in which she tasted Japanese snacks, and gave a score to each of them. Thus, Rosalia returned to explore her extensive universe in Candy version, between red syringes or a snack called ‘IIII Bake’ or a cotton candy with the colors of the rainbow.
Gummies of various shapes and colors, banderillas that tasted like “cupcakes” and strips that tasted like fried chicken, were some of the snacks and/or treats that the singer tasted in the clip, once again showing her love for Japanese gastronomy.
THE GASTRO SCENOGRAPHY OF TUYA
In Rosalía’s new track, in which she mixes Japanese and techno clubber influences, the singer winks at the Western vision of Japan through the lens of Soffia Coppola in the cult classic “Lost in Translation”, while showing her passion for otaku aesthetics through Sailor Moon-inspired stylings.
Throughout the sequences that make up the audiovisual work, conceived as a love letter to Japan, we can also see how the singer experiments once again with Japanese food in a shot in which she appears eating a bowl of ramen in a typical Japanese restaurant, divided individually by wooden walls. Finally, in another scene, under the light of an Eiffel Tower, Rosalía can be seen enjoying a Japanese sweet with which she closes this new ode to Japanese gastronomy.
