The third season of ‘The Mandalorian’ premiered at the beginning of March and many of its stars have been promoting it during the last few weeks. Two of them, Pedro Pascal and Jon Favreau starred in a fun dispute to decide which country had better snacks: Chile or the United States. Pedro Pascal and Jon Favreau participated in the Snack wars section of LADbible TV and talked about all those food that had marked their lives and their origins. Which country do you think has best snacks?
On the one hand, Pedro Pascal got nostalgic recalling his favorite snacks from his childhood in Chile, while for Jon, one of his most recurring requests was McDonald’s. During this particular tasting of typical snacks from each country, the actors were bringing out different products and had to choose which one was better. For example, in one of these ‘combats’, Reese’s chocolate bars (USA) were pitted against Super 8 (Chile). The winner was clearly the U.S. chocolate bar with peanut butter.
The next duel was between the Chilean pine empanada vs. the McDonald’s Quarter Pounder cheeseburger. The winner was the Chilean empanada which, as Pascal himself detailed, has beef, caramelized onion, some olives and lots of spices.
The next confrontation was again a sweet one. This time it was alfajores, on the Chilean side, versus chocolate chip cookies, typical of the United States. There was no rival here either, and for Pedro Pascal it was a nostalgic and very sweet memory of his childhood, especially for the Chilean delicacy (dulce de leche).
In the milkshake section, the artists had to choose between the milk with banana (Chile) and the strawberry milkshake from Five Guys (USA). Both chose the U.S. milkshake. As for sandwiches, it was the turn of the marraqueta with avocado (a kind of sandwich with avocado) and the peanut butter and jelly sandwich (known in English as PB&J). Pascal said that this was his favorite breakfast and noted that the marraqueta bread was very typical of his country. And although for Favreau the PB&J reminded him of his childhood, in the end he opted for the Chilean snack because he considered it a healthier option.
The final result was a clear victory for snacks from Chile. And for you, which country has the best snacks in the world?
Here are some other curious snacks like Selena Gomez’s favorite o this traditional snack from the south of the United States.
