Many brands know the power of social networks and how they can take advantage of virality to get profitability. The latest example is Oscar Mayer. The iconic hot dog sausage brand went viral a few months ago after a video appeared on social networks in which a man used a sausage as a straw to drink beer, becoming known as the ‘Hot Dog Straw’ phenomenon, whose hashtag has more than 9.4 billion views on TikTok.
Just a year after the publication of this video meme, the Oscar Mayer brand has taken advantage of the moment to launch its own hot dog straw. It’s not an edible sausage that doubles as a drinking utensil. The company has actually designed a silicone stick that is an exact replica of a hot dog sausage, life-size and all. It can be used several times and they advise to wash it well before drinking.
At the moment, it seems that it will only be available in the United States and in a very limited edition. To pre-order, Oscar Mayer has created a website where you can register and get yours for free.
