There are very few flavours on the market that Oreo hasn’t already versioned, yet it continues to surprise with unusual creations that are only available for a limited time. In keeping with that philosophy, it has now wanted to explore new territory, having experimented even with sour flavours, and has done so with a sweet-salty combination of pretzel and chocolate.
On 5 May, the company will launch this new iteration, which replaces its classic cream with a chocolate cream inside two pretzel-flavoured biscuits that are also covered in more chocolate. And while Oreo has made chocolate creams before, pretzel creams are really something new, so this sets the stage for a whole new world of pretzel-themed Oreo.
According to the 2024 Mondelez State of Snacking Report, these biscuits are inspired by the results of their study which states that ‘81% of consumers agree that they pay attention to the sensory experience of their snacks’. Apparently, it’s all about the chocolate-covered pretzel crisp.
