OREO goes to the dark side of ‘Star Wars’

From now on, the Star Wars force can be with you when you taste the new OREO biscuits produced in collaboration with LucasFilm.

The iconic chocolate sandwich biscuits are now available in a limited edition that showcases two different versions of the sweet treat. Each represents one side of the force: the dark side biscuits with a red cream and the light side cookies with a blue cream. The surprise effect comes the moment you open the box, and discover which side you own.

Each of the biscuits is engraved with characters from the galactic saga. While the dark side packs feature mythical figures such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul and a stormtrooper, the light side packs feature Luke Skywalker, Yoda and Princess Leia.

In total, 20 characters seal the biscuits, 10 of which are repeated in both versions. Inside, the cream is infused with ‘kyber’ sugar crystals, inspired by the crystals found in a lightsaber, which adds a ‘spacey’ texture and taste. The packaging has just elevated the concept with an illustration based on the original paintings of Greg Hildebrandt, a renowned Star Wars artist since 1977.

The new Star Wars OREO will be available for pre-sale online from 30 May. The biscuits will also arrive at a number of US retailers on 10 June, while stocks last.
