Developer SODIC, which is behind the resurgence of the Egyptian food and hospitality scene, has partnered with renowned hospitality chain Nobu to open its first hotel and restaurant in the country.
‘The Eastown district in New Cairo is a fast-growing area with a high demand for upscale restaurants, retail and entertainment,’ Ayman Amer, CEO of SODIC, tells Forbes. ‘With Egypt’s growing tourism sector and the continued development of New Cairo, now is the ideal time to introduce Nobu, marking a new chapter in the country’s hospitality landscape.’

The New Cairo area, being in close proximity to the American University in Cairo, stands as one of the great dining and luxury lifestyle hubs in the country that is increasingly attracting both locals and tourists seeking world-class dining experiences and restaurants.
Nobu‘s new restaurant, due to open in autumn 2025, will feature a sleek, minimalist design creatively led by The Rockwell Group, inspired by Egypt’s desert landscape and artisanal history. In this idyllic setting, signature dishes from Nobu’s permanent menu, such as miso marinated black cod and yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, will be served.
Amidst bonsai trees and double-height stone walls, the two-storey restaurant will feature a sushi bar sheathed in Japanese minimalism and Egyptian art. Two spaces will include a lounge and bar, a private dining room and an event space.

According to Forbes, details of the menu are still unknown, although the idea and concept are guided by its innovative dishes that fuse Japanese and Peruvian flavours.
