Ivan Ramen has become the most famous ramen place in New York, thanks in part to its appearance on the Netflix show, Chef’s table. Behind the restaurant is chef Ivan Orkin, founder and owner, who has now temporarily moved to Madrid to install a temporary pop up in the capital. It will be from March 13 to 17 as part of the eighth edition of ‘In Residence’, the event in which renowned international chefs bring their expertise to Madrid for several weeks.
The Ivan Ramen pop up, located in the Semilla Food Studio space (Calle José Ortega y Gasset 67 in Madrid) will offer a unique menu that will be served at a shared table, with a price of €100 without food pairing and a service for only 20 diners. It is available for lunch and dinner service until Sunday, March 17.
The renowned chef showed his excitement during the presentation of his #IvanRamenInResidence, inside project. “I am very excited to have the opportunity to bring some of the most iconic dishes from my restaurant in New York to a city like Madrid.”
Ivan Orkin’s professional life has been a long career. He started at the age of 15 washing dishes in a sushi bar and in the 1990s opened his first ramen restaurant in Tokyo, to become a recognized American authority in the world of ramen with his place in New York’s Lower East Side, which is considered the best-known ramen bar in the world, with a kitchen run by someone who is not Japanese.
