Megan Thee Stallion gets deified in this new Pepsi ad in which she stars as an empress leading soccer stars Travis Kelce, Josh Allen, Derrick Henry and Justin Jefferson in an epic showdown inspired by the upcoming movie ‘Gladiator II’.
The campaign titled ‘Make Your Gameday Epic‘ -directed by Ridley Scott’s son, Jake Scott, in collaboration with Paramount Pictures- for the 2024-25 NFL season, also features a soundtrack remastered by Thee Stallion herself; releasing an updated and seductive version of Queen’s classic ‘We Will Rock You‘.
‘A Pepsi commercial is a big deal,’ Megan concedes to PEOPLE. ‘I feel like it’s the rite of passage that all the bad girls have to go through, like Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Pink… and now Megan Thee Stallion.’
The ad opens with a scene in which two American soccer fans (Lamorne Morris and Jake Lacy) are sitting at a bar, discussing their dream teams for the current NFL season. After ordering some Pepsis, Morris and Lacy are transported to a Roman coliseum, where Kelce, Allen, Henry and Jefferson, meet in the middle.
Megan then appears on screen to demand that the arena doors be opened, promoting the release of several tigers that the NFL players must defeat together. At the end of the video, the star joins the four men and grabs a Pepsi. ‘Let game day begin,’ he declares.
‘Bringing the epic world of Gladiator II to life in a modern and dynamic way through this Pepsi campaign was incredibly exciting,’ Jake said in a statement. ‘We wanted to create a visual spectacle that captured the energy and intensity of the sport while paying homage to the iconic film and the original Pepsi campaign. The collaboration with Pepsi and the incredible talent involved made this project truly unforgettable.’
