Everything seems to indicate that Valencia will host a new 5-star hotel in the heart of the city center, in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, right in the old Telefónica building. It will belong to the Marriott chain, which has already begun the procedures to apply for the license and start the relevant works. Behind this majestic project is the businessman Francisco Martínez, president of Empresa Martínez, one of Mercadona’s main suppliers, who is also involved in the real estate sector and who acquired this historic building in 2015.
Thus, the new luxury hotel will receive The Luxury Collection by Marriott distinction, as it will be located in one of the most representative buildings of the city of Valencia. It will also join the other hotels that the chain already owns in the capital of the Turia: Palacio Santa Clara, AC Colón, Hospes Palau de la Mar, Westin and Hotel Valencia.
At the moment, no further information has been released, but the group would consider opening the hotel by 2025, since this type of luxury projects that require large investments are prioritized by the Valencia City Council. As soon as the works begin, the studio in charge of carrying out the refurbishment will be Estudio ERRE, which, in turn, is linked to the Roig family.
