Mark Wahlberg‘s multidisciplinary portfolio not only includes memorable film roles, but also work in the food and/or restaurant industry. From owning his own brand of tequila to running a family hamburger joint with his brothers. Now, the Hollywood actor has decided to expand that gastronomic universe with the opening of a new restaurant known as Flecha Cantina. However, on the day of its official opening, on 6 November, a dramatic episode occurred prior to the party: a fire at the restaurant caused by ‘a faulty fire pit that caught fire at the bottom’, as a spokesperson for the restaurant told PEOPLE.
‘The fire crew came and put it out immediately,’ they added. ‘There is no damage at all to the restaurant inside. The only damage was the fire pit and the chair next to it. Fortunately no one was injured. The sprinklers were activated by the time firefighters arrived, and everyone had evacuated the space. Firefighters reduced the fire enough to extinguish the propane tank’.
The day after it happened, the ‘Boogie Nights’ actor would finally celebrate the official opening of Flecha Cantina with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. ‘Amazing grand opening last night🥳,’ Wahlberg captioned an Instagram video captured on Thursday, November 7. ‘It’s the hottest restaurant in Vegas😎🥃🥂🍾 @flechacantina 🥃🏹📈💯 @flechaazultequila 🥃🔥.’
In the video, the film star can be seen taking phone calls in the restaurant. A customer then tells Wahlberg that he will be a few minutes late and he sarcastically confirms: ‘no fire, we’re fine, we’re open for business’.
As for the gastronomic proposal that will be served at the restaurant, it will revolve around a combination of Mexican classics with a contemporary fire, according to the restaurant’s website. In addition to happy hours and live entertainment, the venue will also offer ‘taco and tequila Tuesdays’, as well as brunch buffets on Sundays.
