The sequel to ‘Knives Out’ has become one of the most watched movies this Christmas on streaming platforms. The comedy starring Daniel Craig, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton or Kate Hudson is full of mystery, tangles and funny gags of all kinds. It also features cameos by Serena Williams, Hugh Grant, Angela Lansbury, Jared Leto and Jeremy Renner, among others. Although the latter two appear in a more peculiar way: with products of their own brand. Jared Leto with a brand of hard kombucha, while Renner appears in the brand of a hot sauce.
Throughout the film, Jared Leto’s drink has quite a bit of prominence in the story, as the characters are constantly drinking the alcohol’s hard kombucha, available in various flavors. This is a variant of the typical kombucha but with more alcohol (around 9%). This fermented beverage contains antioxidants, is a potential source of probiotics and may reduce cardiac risk.
But the truth is that it is a fictitious product and cannot be purchased. Jared Leto does not currently market any similar products. According to comments on Social Media, the director may have chosen the actor and singer because of the quirky celebrity and healthy lifestyle he leads.
On the other hand, the film’s plot also includes another fictitious product of actor Jeremy Renner (who suffered an accident in the snow a few days ago and is in “critical but stable condition”). It is an exclusive range of hot sauces that Miles (Edward Norton) owns and shows to his guests.
Perhaps in the wake of the film’s success, both Jared Leto’s viral hard kombucha and Renner’s hot sauce will become a reality. It wouldn’t be surprising, as there are plenty of celebrities who have launched their own food or beverage lines, such as Paul Newman’s sauces or Belén Esteban’s gazpacho.
