KitKat and Heinz come up with ketchup flavoured chocolate bar

Brands join forces to memeify the most bizarre trend of the moment.

KitKat and Heinz wanted to explore the meme culture to create what could be the brand’s most controversial product: The KitKat’Chup Bar. A product that has been simultaneously unveiled by both brands through an Instagram post, to ‘announce’ their next bar coated in dark red chocolate with ketchup flavour.

The new flavour, which comes in response to the viral internet trend of spreading ketchup on Kitkats, could end up being capitalised on by this first-of-its-kind collaboration inspired by the TikTok craze where users pair the bars with the condiment. In fact, last month, KitKat took advantage of the ‘boom’ of this fusion to hold a tasting with its employees, who expressed their indignation at the combination; while others ‘praised’ the taste between the sweetness and acidity and the crunchy texture and umami notes of the ketchup.
