For the SS25 Milan runway, Jonathan Anderson wanted to reinterpret the legacy of Guinness through a series of pieces inspired by the graphic identity of the Irish brewery.
Between XXL quilted silhouettes and structured bombers with which to style summer evenings, the Irishman’s brand would unveil its collaboration with Guinness, featuring knitwear printed with the brewery label’s archival graphics.
‘I’ve always been obsessed with Guinness and their brand. I think they are still one of the biggest advertisers today and I liked the idea of using their incredible graphics,’ the creative director said in a statement. ‘I’ve always wanted to be able to show some of that because in fashion we think we’re very radical but actually they were way before all that.’
The ready-to-wear capsule includes a crew-neck sweater with pearls that evoke the richness of its foam through an element of luxury, and a hand-knit cashmere sweater. The crew-neck sweater reads “Guinness” in pearlized letters across the top with a graphic of a smiling beer in black and white; while the cashmere garment is likewise inscribed with the brand name and Anderson’s signature underneath. These pieces are joined by two graphic T-shirts stamped with the brewery’s imagery.
The collection has just arrived in JW Anderson stores and on its website.
