The Juan Valdez coffee shop, which opened its first establishment in 2002 to market Colombian coffee, plans to expand its market in Spain and seeks to open more than a hundred coffee shops in the country (under franchise) in the next five years.

In this way, the Colombian group, well established in Latin America and the United States, and which has inaugurated this week a new point of sale in Torre Caleido, in Paseo de la Castellana (Madrid), joins the list of international chains that have made Spain their gateway to Europe.

The Colombian company, which currently has several stores in the Spanish market, all in the Community of Madrid, says, in statements reported by Expansión, that “the time has come to expand to the entire peninsula. 2023 and 2024 will be years of growth and learning to step on the accelerator of openings from 2025”.

Raul Armengol, CEO of La Hermosita, a Spanish group of pastry shops and coffee shops, has been appointed general manager of Juan Valdez Spain, and will be in charge of leading store openings and the search for franchisees.

“We allied with La Hermosita to achieve this purpose in Spain, a high-impact market on the European continent that is currently growing steadily in terms of coffee consumption,” said Juan Valdez International Vice President Sebastián Mejía in a statement published by Sivarious.
