José Andrés’ humanitarian work is well known. The Asturian chef, through his NGO World Central Kitchen, is involved in different catastrophes that occur in the world to help those most affected, including the conflict in Ukraine or the earthquake in Morocco. In order to continue increasing this precious aid, the media chef is going to publish a cookbook whose proceeds will go to support the causes in which his NGO is involved.
This book, entitled The World Kitchen Cookbook, Feeding humanity, Feeding Hope is a collection of captivating stories that also includes recipes from prestigious chefs, as well as local cooks and personalities and celebrities who support the NGO. It is the first publication launched by World Central Kitchen (WCK) and will be available from September 12, but can be ordered here.
A compilation of recipes from around the world
It will include recipes inspired by the many places where they have cooked after disasters, as well as inspirational stories from the chefs and volunteers on the front lines, many of them big personalities. Among the celebrities who have shared recipes, we can find Michelle Obama with her breakfast tacos; the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and her lemon and olive oil pie; or American host Guy Fieri’s favorite Thanksgiving green beans recipe.
Some of the world chefs who have also participated are the Ethiopian Marcus Samuelsson, the American Brooke Williamson, the American of Ghanaian origin Eric Adjepong or the Syrian-Palestinian chef Reem Assil, among other names from up to 20 different countries.
As shared by José Andrés on his website, the book “is filled with the heart and soul of the most incredible people I have ever met. They come from all corners of the world and from all walks of life, but when they come together under the same banner, they do something truly amazing: they show that they care. It may seem simple, but in our world, sometimes the simple act of caring is the most important thing a person can do.”
