The ‘demure‘ trend is eclipsing the internet as a new digital religion devised by tiktoker Jools Lebron, which has captivated everything from pop icons to politicians. The term itself alludes to someone ‘reserved’, modest and even shy as a political act associated with the archetype of femininity.
Now, JLo has joined the ‘demure’ movement with a video in which she shows how she drinks her Delola brand cocktail. ‘See how I do it when I drink from the bottle? Very demure,’ he tells the camera before delicately lifting a bottle of Delola L’Orange Spritz to take a small sip. ‘Very conscious. I don’t drink it in one gulp, I don’t drink it…all the way down,’ she continues, gesturing as if to take a big gulp.
Lebron didn’t want to miss out on this stellar move, and shared his reaction to Lopez’s video on Saturday, August 17 on TikTok, writing, ‘demure block JLO?’ over the singer’s clip. In the video, Lebron is left open-mouthed, seemingly shocked that Lopez created a ‘demure’ video. ‘I can’t lie, as a Puerto Rican blonde, this makes me gag,’ he sentenced in the caption.
JLo has not been the only person in the stardom who has wanted to reinterpret the ‘demure’ lifestyle. Olivia Rodrigo, Bebe Rexha, SZA, Rumer Willis and Lizzo have also joined the trend, which has even been versioned by Joe Biden, sharing a ‘demure’ post from the White House’s official Instagram account. ‘Canceling the student debt of nearly 5 million Americans through various actions. Very conscientious. Very demure,’ reads the August 16 post.
