After bringing the Republican candidate for the US presidency’s bizarre fast food obsession under scrutiny a day before the election result was announced, we round up Donald Trump‘s restaurants.
While he tries to make America great again for Trumpists, the most controversial ultra-conservative politician in US history enjoys the gastronomy of his own restaurants. Both those housed inside the mythical Trump Tower and those he boasts outside his neo-fascist temple. Even so, there are some New York institutions of haute cuisine, such as 21 Club, which serves classic American food, that he does frequent. However, there he continues to feed on the basis of his cult of junk food, in which hamburgers, meat and pizzas stand out. Trump has also visited the Upper East Side Italian restaurant Nino’s on occasion, as well as the exclusive Ralph Lauren Polo Bar.
However, despite sometimes stepping out of his own ideological bubble, and visiting such fine dining restaurants from time to time, the reality is that he tends to eat and dine within his own gastronomic empire, of which he has all these culinary spaces within NYC.
Trump grill
The Trump Grill restaurant, located in the corner of Trump Tower’s Atrium, serves executive chef Kamila Singh’s interpretation of classic American cuisine; catering to both the ‘time-pressed’ businessman and the casual diner ‘looking for the ultimate New York experience’. Specialties include prime steaks, fresh seafood and salads, unique seasonal pastas and classic sandwiches.
The Waterfront NYC
Located at the foot of the Whitestone Bridge overlooking New York’s East River, this sumptuous restaurant overlooks the Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point golf course. In the midst of this scenic setting, this culinary space stands out for its elevated version of New American cuisine.
45 Wine & Whiskey
45 Wine & Whiskey is an exclusive bar located in Trump Tower, offering craft cocktails, American food and iconic photos and memorabilia of the 45th President of the United States.
Trump Sweets
Also located in the atrium of New York’s iconic Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, Trump Sweets offers more than 24 flavours of ice cream on display. Like the classic ice cream parlours of yesteryear, Trump’s Ice Cream Parlor has all the classic ice cream favourites, from thick milkshakes to banana splits and over-the-top sundaes.
Jean-Georges
Headed by its Michelin namesake, Jean-Georges Vongerichten, this Central Park restaurant offers ‘an unparalleled dining experience’ with a mix of French, American and Indo-Chinese ingredients. With a three-course prix fixe menu and two six-course tasting menus for dinner, the options allow for a traditional tasting of the chef’s signature dishes and a seasonal tasting with market-fresh ingredients.
Nougatine
Nougatine, Jean-Georges‘ more casual restaurant, is situated between the windows overlooking Central Park and the restaurant’s show kitchen, and offers Jean Georges’ signature haute cuisine as well as daily specials. ‘During the warmer months, the Mistral terrace, which overlooks the park, also offers the Nougatine menu and signature cocktails. With fresh and delicious ingredients, Nougatine offers an elegant setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner.’
