One of TikTok’s latest algorithmic trends is sculpted in the form of a candle, giving way to different interpretations to romance your evenings throughout 2024.
The search for ‘butter candle‘ garnered more than 8 million hits on the platform, as a virtual hub that proliferated with countless versions from amateur chefs sharing their recipes for this delicious snack.
Content creators made candles by using ghee sticks (with a wick) and placing them, lit, on a loaf of sanctified bread in the centre. But experts warned of their danger and advised using an edible wick.
*Ingredients: Round loaf of bread – Butter – Paper cup – Food candle wick.
Recipe
- Melt the butter in a large microwave-safe bowl or on the cooker over low heat. Pour the melted butter into the paper cup along with the wick and hold in place by taping the wick and the side of the cup, if necessary. Freeze for one hour or until solid.
- Meanwhile, make a slice in a large round loaf of bread using the same size paper cup. To do this, place the glass upside down in the centre of the loaf and cut around the edge, following the knife through the loaf to make a large, cup-sized hole in the loaf.
- Place the same cup inside the hole and cut vertically along the sides to create pieces that are easy to separate.
- When the butter has solidified, break the paper cup and place the butter in the prepared loaf. Then light the candle. It will take about 15 minutes for the butter to melt, but you can use the pieces to dip into the melted butter.
