Potatas a lo pobre is one of those simple grandmother’s recipes that will save you any meal. As its name suggests, it is a fairly basic preparation (it is so called because it refers to the post-war and famine era, where humble people resorted to cooking with ingredients within reach, such as potatoes. What began as a kind of recipe for making the most of it, has become an essential appetizer or side dish. “Patatas a lo pobre” recipe

Preparation:

  • First wash and peel the potatoes, cutting them into slices. Also julienne the onion and the bell pepper; and chop the garlic cloves.
  • In a frying pan with plenty of oil (you can reuse it for other occasions), put the garlic first and then add the rest of the ingredients and leave it over medium-low heat for 15 minutes (or until you see that they are well done). The idea is that they are well done, but tender, without browning or burning too much.
