Avocado toast itself never seems to go out of fashion, but its variations imagined by amateur chefs, digital creators or great culinary figures who reinterpret the recipe through new ingredients with which to propose healthy alternatives for our breakfasts or brunches do.
Gordon Ramsay has been precisely one of the chefs who has launched several versions of avocado toast with a ‘light, healthy and fast’ formula. Although, as reflected on his website, the star also paid tribute to national gastronomy with an interpretation of the toast with chorizo and tomatoes.
However, this time we’re going to focus on his iteration with black sesame seeds, salt, black pepper and fresh lemon zest. The chef gives the red bell pepper flakes a very strong kick, but the best thing about a ‘build it yourself’ seasoning blend is that you can customize it to your liking. If the preference is for critics, add lemon zest, and if not, add sesame seeds for a crunchier result.
To bring all the ingredients together, Ramsay starts by toasting the sourdough bread with olive oil in a frying pan. Next, he slices the avocado thinly and uses about a quarter of an avocado for each slice of toast, fanning the slices and pressing them lightly against the bread. Finish your toast with a squeeze of lemon juice and a dash of your seasoning mix.
