How to make Stanley Tucci’s Protein Sandwich

In a new installment of Insagram, Tucci takes a throwback to the past to bring a tuna sandwich from his college years to the present. A ‘genius’ that has become one of his lunchtime staples. What’s more, it can be prepared in just 5 minutes.

The base of the snack consists of tuna in brine combined with chopped red onion and celery, as well as mayonnaise, salt and a touch of pepper. For the cheese, the actor opts for Emmentaler Swiss cheese.

The debate rages over whether to put the gherkins in or leave them out. Stanley prefers to leave them out, while his wife insists they should go in, so that their acidity contrasts with the richness of the cheese and mayonnaise.

To assemble, Tucci spreads a layer of tuna salad on his bread and adds two slices of cheese to cover the surface. After closing the sandwich, he spreads butter on the outside of the bread, places it in a panini press for 2-3 minutes, and serves it on a plate to enjoy it in all its glory.
