The new wave of inclusive consumers, and socially progressive dreamers, is also controlling the culinary narrative on TikTok. Whether it’s through trends or cooking hacks that end up creating an obsession for Generation Z with that particular food or recipe.
Now, it’s the turn of parmesan crackers, a gastronomic classic that is now being reinvented in a new format adapted to the TikTok era; which has led all tiktokers to introduce parmesan cheese crusts in their microwaves, conceived as appetizers or snacks.
Despite the collective fear of eating cheese rinds, or biting into the waxy layer -which is actually edible- of a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano, which is a dry protective layer of cheese, it takes on a greater significance than is usually associated with it.
This often essential element, which intensifies the flavour of certain dishes such as risottos, pastas or soups, can now also be put in the microwave and become a crunchy snack. Of course, the idea is to use an original PDO.
How to elaborate it?
According to the amateur chefs at TikTok, to do this, just cut the Parmigiano Reggiano rinds into smaller squares (1/2 inch or so). Then microwave them for one minute. The cheese will puff up and crisp up before turning into a crunchy morsel of cheese.
However, if you want to make this recipe more sophisticated, you can grate the parmesan, place it in a thin layer and bake it in the oven, so that the result is in the shape of a tile.
