How to make ‘manjar blanco’, the recipe for sweet lovers

Today we have a sweet tooth and we bring you an ideal recipe for sweet lovers. It is a blancmange, of medieval origin and typical of the area of Tarragona, but which has crossed borders and has reached many Latin American countries. It is also very easy to prepare and the result is delicious. Take note!

Manjar blanco recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500 ml almond milk
  • 25 g cornstarch
  • Sweetener to taste
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • The peel of half a lemon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence

Preparation:

  • In a saucepan, put the almond milk with the cornflour and leave it on a low heat until it forms a cream.
  • Before boiling, add the cinnamon, lemon peel and vanilla essence. Stir until it has a more consistent texture.
  • Remove from the heat and leave to cool.
  • Then remove from the heat, add the sweetener, stir again and leave to cool. Put it in the fridge.
  • Serve in moulds or small bowls and sprinkle with cinnamon.
