Heineken has just come up with an ingenious solution to scrolling in bars. ‘The Flipper‘, a pioneering prototype that flips your phone upside down so you won’t get distracted while you’re out with friends or partying.
The ideologist of this revolutionary product, Swedish inventor Simone Giertz, has presented a case that literally turns your phone upside down when it detects a ‘cheers’ or a toast. An act that is carried out thanks to intelligent voice-detection technology to get people to join the #SocialOffSocials movement.
The device uses a listening tool attached to a robotic arm that instantly rotates the phone to demonstrate the problem of ‘phubbing’ – the distraction of scrolling the internet – so that you can connect with people in real life.
‘The Flipper‘ joins Heineken‘s archive of products that advocate this digital “disconnection”. In the past it has already surprised with ‘The Closer’, a high-tech bottle opener that when people used it to open a bottle of the brewery, the opener immediately closed the work apps.

The ironic Flipper is currently a prototype, but may soon be available for purchase. Cheers. #SocialOffSocials.
