These bars, cafés or restaurants have crystallised at the heart of the Parisian scene as the great must-see and must-be-seen during Paris Fashion Week.
We take a superficial tour of all these enclaves to bring to the fore their gastronomic offerings and the aesthetic codes that represent them, turning them into institutions of fashion and art. From the temple of caviar to legendary brasseries, these are the Parisian places where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of the fashion shows.
Maison du Caviar
Maison du Caviar is a Parisian institution, founded in 1956, which welcomes the capital’s eclectic personalities to its tables: residents and visitors who come during PFW for its 1920s-inspired interior design and its haute couture menu that boasts a series of culinary discoveries based on the finest caviar and iodine.
It offers a menu of signature dishes and great classics of Russian cuisine, such as borscht, pirojkis and beef Stroganoff, mixed with chic creations such as its prestigious selection of caviar served in a bowl of ice – white caviar from the Kadjar reserve, beluga from Iran, Imperial Osciètre… along with its top-of-the-range wines and vodkas flavoured with hazelnuts.
Location: 21 Rue Quentin Bauchart 75008.
Café de Flore
Today, Café de Flore has become a landmark in the world of fashion, channelled as a stage or catwalk for campaigns and catwalk shows by Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Longchamp and Louis Vuitton. But it is also a meeting point for Paris Fashion Week attendees, who have made it another of the temples of fashion in which to sit alongside fashion editors, models and artists from the industry.
During Fashion Week, designers and models take a break between shows at their tables, which have become one of the best showcases to see and be seen.
Folderol
Folderol connects two apparently unrelated concepts: ice cream and wine in the heart of Paris. It is a trendy ice cream shop and wine bar serving artisan ice cream in antique metal cups alongside a selection of natural wines.
A hybrid concept and/or a perfect fusion that defines the identity of this business based purely on pleasure for the “bon vivants” who sit on its pavement, drinking artisanal wine, eating ice cream and chatting as if they were part of a timeless block party of which iconic personalities such as Dua Lipa or Jacquemus have also been part.
Location: 10 Rue Du Grand Prieuré, 75011.
Paperboy
Rue Amelot is home to Paperboy, one of the capital’s main reference points for the entire streetwear community.
Having served up collaborations with brands such as New Balance and Beams, its aesthetically elevated establishment features refreshing drinks and a selection of food specialising in fresh, homemade sandwiches to satisfy the hypebeasts’ hunger.
Location: 137 Rue Amelot, 75011 París.
Silencio Paris
One of Paris’ best-kept secrets is this nightclub creatively directed by David Lynch. Silencio is structured around an exclusive restaurant, which focuses on South American cuisine, a concert hall, an art library and an underground discotheque frequented by the likes of Peggy Gou, Cher, ASAP Rocky and muse Michèle Lamy.
Location: 142 Rue Montmartre, 75002.
El Relais Plaza
This historic Art Deco brasserie has become an ode to the past, revived from the present by fashion and art personalities, who come to this establishment to enjoy dishes such as raw sea bass with olive oil and lemon, prawns in mayonnaise, crispy roast turbot or fillet of veal with foie gras.
Not to mention the icing on the cake: their comfortingly regressive desserts ranging from a chocolate soufflé tart to a childhood caramel cream.
Location: 21 Av. Montaigne, 75008.
Parcelles
On Rue Chapon in Le Marais, this iconic 1936 bistro combines a great wine list from the south of France, Italy and Spain with seasonal dishes such as courgette fritters, pressed pork shanks and even a tiramisu with hazelnut bursts.
Location: 13 Rue Chapon, 75003.
