Gordon Ramsay is constantly in the spotlight and/or the spotlight: whether it’s for his shows, restaurants, launches or viral videos. Now, after launching his debut line of frozen food ‘By Chef Ramsay’, a Michelin-starred collection focused on his favorite comfort food classics, the British chef is back in the news by confessing in one of the programs he stars in that Spanish cuisine is the best in the world.
The British chef is one of the protagonists of the show on wheels ‘Road Trip with Gordon, Gino and Fred‘ available on HBO. In this program, chefs Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix embark on a road trip through different countries and cities exploring their gastronomy, culture and tradition.
During these culinary journeys, they talk about different experiences, sharing anecdotes and opinions. Well, in one of these last chats, they talked precisely about Spanish cuisine, which Ramsay said was better than Italian cuisine, in front of the renowned French and Italian chef.
Faced with such a confession, his Italian colleague responded stunned that he disagreed. To which Ramsay replies: ‘What I’m trying to say is that [Spanish cuisine] is surpassing Italian cuisine’, launching the definitive debate both in situ and through the screen to end up going viral. French chef Fred Sirieix adds: ‘People love Spanish food. They love tapas.
Perhaps what surprises us most about all this is not Ramsay’s confession, but the fact that, being renowned chefs, they reduce Spanish gastronomy to ‘tapas’.
