With this heat wave, what we most want to eat are light and refreshing dishes. Salads are a must during these dates, but if you get tired of the most typical elaborations, today we bring you a different proposal so you can try something different. Below, we detail step by step the recipe for German salad, also known as Kartoffelsalat -although that literally means “potato salad”, but in Spain we usually also add an ingredient as German as sausages-. Quick, easy and very tasty, take note!
German salad recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 kg potatoes
- 2 small red onions
- 1 package frankfurter sausage
- 1 bunch of chives
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 100 g mayonnaise
- Chopped gherkins
- 125 ml vegetable stock
- 3 tablespoons white wine vinegar
Preparation:
- First, boil the potatoes for about 25 minutes. Drain them, let them cool and cut them into cubes.
- Cut the onion into fine pieces and sauté for a few minutes in a frying pan with oil. Add the vegetable stock to deglaze for 1 minute of boiling and add the vinegar.
- In the same frying pan, pass the diced sausages for a few minutes to cook. Remove.
- In a bowl, put the potatoes, onion and sausages together with the gherkins and chives.
- Then add the mayonnaise and mustard and mix well. Let it cool in the fridge and enjoy it.
