If in 2023 the pistachio was one of the most popular gastronomic trends, this year will not be less. Taking advantage of the fact that February 26th is celebrated as World Pistachio Day, we have compiled some places in Madrid that offer dishes or products with pistachio as the real protagonist. Because, besides being delicious, pistachio provides a lot of benefits: from being a great source of protein to being rich in fiber, potassium and magnesium, as well as its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory power, among many other advantages. Take note of these five places where you can try dishes that are a tribute to the green nut par excellence.

Gio&Sam’s Pistachio Cheesecake

It has become one of Gio&Sam’s star products. With three locations in Madrid, this place specializing in cheesecakes elaborates an option with a touch of national roasted pistachio, which is also topped with caramelized pistachios and each bite has a unique nuance and texture. Hot Now Pistacho Pizza

Hot Now also serves a winning option. Its Pistachio pizza was considered the best pizza in Spain at Madrid Fusion in 2022. Its original creation is made with pistachio pesto, zucchini, tomato confit, panko and lime. It costs 16,50 € and is a must if you like these nuts.

The pistachio ice cream of La Dolce Fina

Very close to the Retiro Park you will find this ice cream parlor run by two Argentines with artisan ice cream whose main bastion is the quality of the raw material and technique. If you are a pistachio lover, you must ask for that flavor here, as they serve the best pistachio ice cream in the world (it was winner of the ‘Coppa del Mondo de la Gelateria 2006’, with the master ice cream maker Sergio Colalucci, godfather of La Dolce Fina along with another great master ice cream maker such as Sergio Dondoli), but you also have other 100% artisan ice creams with flavors that vary according to seasonality. La Pistachería’s pistachio cream

The authentic pistachio temple is located in the Antón Martín Market. La Pistachería pays tribute to this nut and specializes in Iberian pistachios. In this select store, its star product is 100% pistachio cream, but you can also get liquor, flour, nougat, truffles or pesto, all made with pistachios.

Panem’s Palmera

Those with a sweet tooth will also find their mouths watering with the pistachio palmera of Panem, the popular bakery near the Retiro, with numerous awards such as the Best Roscón de Reyes of Madrid 2022, the Best Artisan Croissant of Spain in 2021 or the Best Bread of Madrid 2019. Regarding this sweet that pays homage to the pistachio, this palmera is covered and filled with pistachio cream, in addition to having small pieces of the nut sprinkled on it. They also offer other products with pistachio, such as the croissant or the cookie.
